The AvalanchesAustralian electronic music pioneers The Avalanches are at home. Today, they’ve announced a surprise, intimate pop-up show at Club 77 in Sydney.
Taking place this Thursday, 10 September, it’s a show fans won’t want to miss – the chance of seeing the trio in a venue this intimate again is unlikely. The secret show will see The Avalanches joined by some friends, Moktar, Jono Ma, and Reenie, all playing DJ sets.
The fun starts at 8 pm and continues until late. Fans can head to Club 77 on 77 William St, Darlinghurst, to witness the show.
Last night (7 September), The Avalanches helped Melbourne community radio station Triple R celebrate its 50th anniversary, performing a special, exclusive DJ set for Triple R subscribers.
The shows arrive as the trio – Robbie Chater, Tony Di Blasi and Midnight Juggernauts’ Andy Szekeres – prepare to release their new album, No Bad Memories, on Friday, 16 October, via Modular Recordings.
No Bad Memories is the follow-up to 2020’s We Will Always Love You. With their forthcoming release, The Avalanches are revisiting “imagery and jingles from childhood” and utilising these profound pieces of nostalgic sounds as a protest against the corporate framework to deliver their “own kind of joyous pop music.”
Thus far, the group have released the singles Together (featuring Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza and Prentiss), Every Single Weekend (featuring Jamie xx), Blue Shadows (featuring Karen O), and Can't Get Over Losing You (featuring Portraits of Tracy).
Last week, The Avalanches confirmed the whopping 31-song tracklist to No Bad Memories, while collaborator Mike Patton of Faith No More fame announced that he’d be appearing on three tracks on the album before the tracklist was shared.
Other collaborators who appear on the album include Carly Simon, Panda Bear, Barry Can’t Swim, Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, Erick the Architect, actor Haley Joel Osment, and more.
