Phoebe BridgersPhoebe Bridgers’ highly anticipated new album, Lost Weekend, will be released next Friday (14 August). And the Kyoto hitmaker has offered fans a special experience to hear the album ahead of its release.
Lost Weekend will debut in its entirety inside planetariums across the globe, with Bridgers partnering with Spotify to deliver the events. The listening parties, taking place in the US and Canada, Europe, the UK and Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, begin from Monday, 10 August, and continue until Friday, 14 August.
Multiple screenings have been scheduled at each participating planetarium. In Australia, the events are taking place at the Melbourne Planetarium at Scienceworks on Thursday, 13 August, and Wollongong’s UOW SCIENCE Space on Wednesday, 12 and Thursday, 13 August.
In New Zealand, the events are happening at Auckland’s Te Whatu Stardome, Dunedin’s Tūhura Planetarium, and Wellington’s Space Place.
Tickets to the Australian listening parties are sold out. However, you can keep an eye on the Scienceworks and SCIENCE Space websites for additional sessions or ticket releases.

The listening parties will feature an album playthrough alongside one of two original visual accompaniments, including a custom dome show designed by night sky photographer Babak Tafreshi, or an immersive laser show designed by Laser Fantasy. Bridgers will not be attending the events.
Bridgers has requested that the listening events be phone- and camera-free. Fans must secure their phones, smartwatches, recording and filming devices into Yondr pouches upon entrance to the venues, keep the pouches with them, and only access their devices upon leaving the planetarium domes.
If fans missed out on making it to the planetarium events, there will be over 300 international midnight album release parties fans can make it to and experience Lost Weekend.
Midnight listening parties are happening across Australia and New Zealand. You can find your local record store participating in said parties here.

Lost Weekend is the long-awaited follow-up to Bridgers’ last solo album, Punisher, released in 2020. In between the records, however, she and her boygenius bandmates – Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus – released their debut album, The Record, and the accompanying EP, The Rest.
At the 2024 Grammy Awards, the supergroup won three Grammy Awards: Best Alternative Album, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance (for Not Strong Enough).
