The annual Port Fairy Folk Festival celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2027, and today, organisers launch into the festivities by revealing the first batch of artists on the line-up.
Port Fairy Folk Festival is a not-for-profit annual event led by a volunteer committee from the local community.
From humble beginnings at its launch in 1977, Port Fairy Folk Festival has evolved into one of the world’s most revered annual folk music events. Artists from at home and abroad appear each year as the festival retains its key values of community, connection, and putting music first.
Appearing on the first artist announcement for its golden anniversary are artists such as Alosa, Grace Petrie, John Butler and his band, Kate Rusby, Kutcha Edwards, Mia Dyson, Mick Thomas’ Roving Commission, Skerryvore, and more. Check out the first artist announcement below.
Organisers state that today’s first artist announcement is only the beginning – not only for the artists performing, but also for the 50th anniversary celebrations.
The 50th edition of the Port Fairy Folk Festival takes place in the picturesque location of Port Fairy in Victoria over the 2027 Labour Day long weekend: Friday, 5 to Monday, 8 March.
Tickets, along with information about the event and accommodation options, are now available on the festival website.

Before the line-up was even announced, the festival had sold a record-breaking number of tickets in the first week of sale. Port Fairy Folk Festival Program Director Justin Rudge said of the festival’s milestone 50th anniversary, “Together with the volunteer committee and team, it’s such an honour to be the custodians of an event so beloved to so many.”
Rudge continued, “This first artist line-up is the Folkie at its best - Artists of the Year, international stars and the cream of local artists. Some coming back for their tenth visit, others on their first voyage to Port Fairy and Australia.
“And it’s just the beginning – we have so much more in store for our amazing audience. It’s a wonderful chance to reflect on the past and nurture the Port Fairy experience for generations to come. This year will truly have something for everyone.”
