Warner Brothers Residency (Late Matinee)

Sunday, 28 June 2026

Where?

What?

In 1987, when James Stewart and Dan Warner added a rhythm section to their guitar duo, the locals, as a joke, started calling the band ‘The Warner Brothers’. Way before ‘alt-country’ was even thought of as a genre, The Warners were paving the way for the next generation of country-lovin’ folk in the inner city. In fact, the band’s first 1992 single ‘Stuck in Melbourne’ still somehow remains a weird singalong country lament – a tiny lamplight searching its way out of the depths of the grunge era. On every Sunday in June, The Warner Brothers return to the NSC for a classic bar-band Sunday arvo residency. James and Dan are still trading blows up the front - and they are joined by original drummer James Carden as referee, and bass player Alics Gate-Eastley as the voice of reason. Buckle up.
