The King and Queen are booked to tour Australia  King Yellowman helped revive Jamaican dancehall in the 1980s. Following Bob Marley’s death in 1981, he gained international attention for his distinctive, energetic style. His early success boosted the popularity of toasting—the reggae form of rapping—and helped position dancehall as reggae’s next major sound. He also became known for dancehall’s “slack” lyrics, which often featured casual violence, sexism and crude humour. Explicit sexuality was his signature theme, reaching a level of frankness rarely heard in Jamaica at the time. Although critics condemned this material, it also contributed to his early popularity. Yellowman is still one of the most verbally nimble toasters of his time, with a loose, easy flow, a talent for improvisation, and a definite wit in his wordplay. Plus, all the boasting about his prowess on the mic or in the bedroom had to be over the top to be convincing: true to his stage name, Yellowman is an albino, which carries a tremendous social stigma in Jamaica. The King Yellowman will be making his first visit to Australia in February 2027 with shows in Melbourne and Sydney.  Queen Ifrica: Born Ventrice Morgan in Montego Bay Jamaica, Queen Ifrica stands as one of reggae music most respected and emotionally sincere voices. Rooted in Rastafarian Culture and shaped by a deep musical lineage, she emerged at the dawn of the millennium as one of roots reggae’s most commanding female torchbearers. With early tracks like Montego Bay, Lioness on the Rise, and Below the Waist are modern roots classics. Her stirring interpretation of Four Women produced by multi-Grammy winner Stephen Marley marked defining moment.

Queen Ifrica is widely regarded as one of the most powerful voices in contemporary roots reggae. Known for her fearless songwriting and commanding stage presence, Queen Ifrica has built a career delivering music that speaks truth to power while celebrating resilience, culture and identity. Event Information: King Yellowman and Queen Ifrica will be live at Northcote Theatre on Sunday the 21st of February 2027. King Yellowman will be backed by local reggae legends, The Ras Jahknow Band
